Tempt the Stars (Cassandra Palmer #6) by Karen Chance

Synopsis:

Being a goddess is a lot less fun than you might think. Especially when you’re only a half goddess, and you only found out about it recently, and you still don’t know what you’re doing half the time. And when you’ve just used your not-so-reliable powers to burglarize the booby-trapped office of a vampire mob boss.

Yeah, that part sucks.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg for Cassandra Palmer, aka the Pythia, the freshly minted chief seer of the supernatural world. After all, Cassie still has to save a friend from a fate worse than death, deal with an increasingly possessive master vampire, and prevent a party of her own acolytes from unleashing a storm of fury upon the world. Totally just your average day at the office, right?

Cassie’s rule: “if something can’t go wrong, because it is completely impossible for it to happen in the first place, it will somehow manage to go wrong anyway.”

And ooooh yeaaah, what a truth it is for Cassie!

In Tempt the Stars she will have to deal with more than one demond Lord who will love to see her dead...  a Coven of Witches, her own court, Casanova nastiness, a surprising traitor, a Mircea veeeeeeeeery elusive, among other things that will mark her deeply and not exactly for good.

I have to give this book only 3 stars because I enjoyed reading it, but I find it has big flaws. Not to mention that it ended with a big cliffhanger!!!!!!! I can't believe the author just do that again, I really hate it!

I find annoying a fluffy Cassie...I would love to see her kicking some asses or at least controlling her powers. She doesn't know what is doing half the time. I think is time for her to study and learn how to master her powers...she has been the Pythia for a while now.

The book is remarcable for its absences: don't waste time longing to read alot of Pritkin or Mircea.  432 pages and we get only about 30 pages with Pritkin and nothing with Mircea.

I love the Pritkin parts, though. I can´t say nothing without giving away spoilers, so I will only sigh *sigh* (Cassie I hope one of these days you will wake up and smell the coffee)

So as you can imagine this book has 0 romance. I know this is not a romance novel, but come on! A sexy demond-war mage and a sultry master vampire and we get 0 romance. That's not fair at all.

What we get is action. To much action in my opinion. I found it slows the book, there is to much information in each fighting scene. That made them large and not interesting.

There is also a big nasty surprise I don't see coming, and this nasty surprise is related to the cliffhanger....and the next book will revolve around it. Will we have to wait again 2 years to find out what happens?? Because I already feel like at the edge of madness: I really need the next book now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
